Meet Chaplain Allen

Host videoThe Chaplain's Corner seeks to deliver Christ centered transformation by providing spiritual support to others around the world by "coming along side" via the Internet in the spirit of II Corinthians 1:1-4. It is a "virtual bridge."

Chaplain Allen enjoyed a long career with an international petroleum company. During that time he was stationed in various locations in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and the United States in addition to traveling world wide on behalf of his company. He transitioned into the role of Chaplain after the 1996 cancer related death of his first wife. Working primarily out of the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he cared for the seriously ill, their families and caregivers for over ten years before moving to East Texas.

He served on the Board of Regents at NationsUniversity for 15 years. In mid 2014 NationsUniversity approached Allen to become its first Chaplain. This entailed the creation of an entirely new way of delivering chaplaincy services. We are aware of no other entity that does this solely via the Internet.

Allen's vision for The Chaplains Corner is to "provide Christ centered, world wide compassionate support to the seriously ill, distressed and disrupted, especially those who are in remote or otherwise isolated communities."

Chaplain Allen and his wife, Judy, have been married for twenty two years. They live in Sugarland, Texas and have three children, four grand children and another on the way. In his free time Allen enjoys gardening, canoeing and "silent retreat" backpacking trips. He is a Lay Cistercian of Gethsemani Abbey in Kentucky. And he has also played the baritone horn in a local community band.

Allen's Personal Themes:

- You don't have to make the journey alone. (II Corinthians 1:3-4)
- You can get no closer to God than you are right now. (Ephesians 4:6)
- God's presence in your life will affect everything you come in contact with.
- There is hope in times of spiritual distress.
